What Ami ji likes to do on a rainy day!!!
Whenever the monsoons start, I am reminded of my birthday -- July 15. So when I see the rains coming, I know my birthday is around. Besides that, I also remember my school days when we had to wear raincoats to go to school. Don't know why, but I just love my raincoats. On a rainy day, I would love to have pakodas along with a cup of tea and stare outside my window for a long long time. I can spend hours in front of the window.
With my love, I would like to go for a long drive, play a nice song during and be in a very romantic mood. My favourite monsoon spot is Matheran.

"Remember, this is an old interview and its just an extract of that interview."
"Recently one of Kittu’s female fans visited them on the sets as Ami says,“This girl had made an entire album with cuttings of the serial, from start till date. She even wore a Kittu-style outfit. I was so touched and it hit me then that it was coming to an end,” adding further, “It was a good unit and a wonderful team. We have been shooting constantly and all of us are going to miss it for sure.”

Ami Trivedi’s visit to Bengal!
This is an old interview! That's why old dates have been referred to!
Last year (2005) Ami Trivedi came to Bengal to promote her show KSJH in collaboration with STAR ANAND & a famous Bengali magazine, which made her the cover gir for a month's issue. This event vas highly publicized & nearly in all newspapers & local TV Channels big pictures of Ami was given. It was hard to believe that there were so many hoardings of the show in my city as its not a very big city & such hoardings were given for the first time by any TV channel here. Even Raveena Tandon publicized this show when she come to inaugurate a Kali-pooja pendal.

Exclusive interview with star anand—
The interview was completely in Bengali & Ami was very fluent in the language.
Most of the things she said is common to her other interviews, some new things are:-
1. She learnt Bengali from her Bengali friends.
2. She will love to do Bengali films.
3. She has relatives at Kolkata.
4. She knew her male co-star much earlier(must be from Khichadi times)
5. Amit Verma was added to the show at the last moment.

My character enjoys her life to the fullest: Ami Trivedi
Ami Trivedi who plays Kokila in the newly launched show, 'Papad Pol-Shahbuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya’ on SAB TV, shares her views about her character she plays in a short talk with IndianExpress.com.
What was the most difficult part for you to get into the skin of the character 'Kokila' in Papad Pol?
This character does not exist in the original book. We have invented this character. Other characters have a detailed description in the book.
What is the biggest connect which your character holds for the audience?
Characters are very much lost in their own world. Kokila is the character who does not take her life seriously. She would do whatever she feels like. She would not stop from doing something which she likes, even if she has been warned against it. She does not take her life too seriously and enjoys life to the fullest and sports the thick skinned character.
What is the biggest satisfaction you get from being a part of this show?
I have grown up reading Shahbuddin Ji’s stories and it is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of such an ensemble cast and enact the part of Kokila in the show.
What is the most tricky part at your end in playing this character?
The way she (Kokila) talks is the most tricky part of my character.
To what extent has your theater background helped you in giving life to your character?
Because I am from theater, I can think, talk and behave like my character.
As a real life person what distinct trait/traits you share with your character?
(Giggles)..Femininity..There are many positive things which I would like to imbibe from my character.
Why Ami Trivedi Visits Church Every Wednesday!
It must be sounding different that Ami Trivedi a.k.a Kokila of ‘Papad Pol’, being a Gujarati girl and married to a Maarwadi boy recently visits church every Wednesday. Seems surprising and thus we asked her about the reason for which she visits church regularly despite not being a Christian.
Obviously, there is no restriction for a person to visit church but we are curious to know what exactly happened with Ami that she visits church every Wednesday without fail.
While conversing with TellyCafe she says, “I never fail to visit church on Wednesday and there is a special reason to be there every week. Before I got the chance to act in ‘Kittu Sab Janti Hai’, I had just coincidently visited a church and prayed to God to help me make my parents proud. Immediately after that I got the lead role in the show. Myparents said that they were the happiest parents on the earth and were very proud to see me on screen. So my dream was fulfilled immediately after my visit to church”.
Ami adds further, “Since then to keep in touch with the spirituality, I always visit the church every Wednesday without fail and that’s all the reason why I visit church regularly”.
That’s great Ami, even after getting what you want, you didn’t forgotten to visit the place. Keep it up!

Undoubtedly, she does not look a new face on television from the acting front. The gorgeous Trivedi got instant recognition with this show of Sahara One and that came through her acting prowess. She is a household name now....since every girl of the country likes to be Kituu.
Now the girl has one more reason to smile, as was honoured with a special memento of 'Promising Upcoming TV Star' at the prestigious Young Achievers Award instituted by the Indo-American Society. The sparkling ceremony was held on 3rd December at The Hilton Towers in Mumbai where the young talents in varied spheres were encouraged. Ami was overjoyed after being honoured with the award. She looked flying at cloud number nine at the function. Ami Trivedi expressed her joys saying, "I'm elated about winning this honour and this has been possible because of the role of Kituu that has been so well received by the viewers. I thank SaharaOne Television for acknowledging my talent and routing it in the most suited way."
The glorious event was graced by chief guests Mr. & Mrs. Robert O. Blake-Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, New Delhi and the Guest of Honour, Mr. & Mrs. Michael S. Owen - US Consul General, Mumbai.
"Ami is SaharaOne Television's prodigy and she has definitely made all of us very proud. Ami Trivedi has just begun to sail on waves and she has a long way to go.....good luck to you.
Kituu compared to Waheeda Rehman - Honor for Ami Trivedi!
Noted film director Priyadarshan complimented Ami Trivedi (of Sahara One's Kituu Sab Jaantii Hai) after watching her performance. "I saw the episode last night. Kituu's performance reminded me of Waheeda Rehman in the olden days. Ask her to keep up the good work." This compliment came through a text message to the director of the show. "I am elated," was all Ami could say when asked for a reaction.

“I Aspired To Be A Doctor And Not Actor” : Ami Trivedi
Ami Trivedi is a well-known name. And if not with her real name she is known with her character name Kokila of SAB TV’s new offering ‘Papad Pol’. The girl was very much excited to speak to TellyCafe when we informed her that she was the one in our list of celebrity interviews. TellyCafe brings Ami Trivedi’s interview especially for you.
How is Ami in real life apart from her on-screen behavior? I am a typical Cancerian, shy with the unknown surrounding but once when I get into it, I am no more an introvert. I will be just like any crazy and silly person. I am sensible too. I never ever think about my future and my past but I always live in today.
How did you start your journey in this industry? Well, I started acting in childhood. I had worked as a child artist as well. I did theatres and received appreciation of the audience. Then I took a gap for my studies in 10th and 12th and then again I got started with my acting. After college I got my first break for ‘Babul Ki Duayen Leti Ja’, followed by, ‘Kittu Sab Janti Hai’, ‘Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo’ and now ‘Papad Pol’. The journey was great and I gained lot of experience but I will also not forget that once I have planned to be a doctor by profession and not an actor.
Share something about you marriage Well, finally after 4 years of hard wait, I got married to my lover boy Neeraj Sanghai. We both met through a common friend. And after he saw me on the hoarding of ‘Kittu Sab…’ he contacted me on my phone and started making a rapport with me. Our story started like a daily soap and then slowly and gradually I too started thinking that he is not bad and it is OK to get with him. There were many problems in my marriage as he is not of my caste. But finally after 4 years, we are happily married to each other.
Do you find any changes in your lifestyle after marriage? No, and for that I thank my husband as he is the one who has made me stay as I am. Before marriage my mom never allowed me to do any thing in the kitchen and after my marriage in my in-laws house, I am being treated the same way but sometimes I purposefully enter the kitchen and try new food items, which are also liked by my in-laws. But my husband had given me all the freedom to be as I am and not to change a bit.
You are seen essaying Gujarati speaking girl in your recent shows. Is there any special reason for that? No actually. I fitted very well into that ascent of a Gujarati girl and my role in ‘Sajan Re...’ was not of a Gujarati girl but of a banjaran. While working on the character I thought that the character can be made more interesting with Kathewadi ascent. The idea worked. It just happened, nothing was planned. And ‘Papad Pol’ itself is based on Gujarati novel so being Gujarati over there was a coincident.
Share a memorable moment till date! There are many but one which I cannot forget at any moment was a birthday of mine. Before my marriage, on one of my birthdays Neeraj wanted to spend at least sometime with me. He knew that I visit church every Wednesday and coincidentally my birthday fell on a Wednesday. To give me surprise, he lit candles on each stair of the Bandra church which was a delight to see. Not only that after that he took me to drive and the dickey of the car was full of gifts. That birthday was the most memorable and delightful for me.

FAMILY TIES! Ami Trivedi Ji & her Mummy!
Ami Trivedi juggled between studies and the stage for years, before making her debut in the alternative reality world of television. She quickly stole the limelight as the effervescent Kituu in the serial 'Kituu Sab Janti Hai' on Sahara One, playing the role of a young extrovert 20-something girl who takes the plunge to face the professional world. She confesses to being truly in love with her Gujarati culture — be it the clothes, the exuberant dandiya, or the food which she misses the most when shooting on the sets.
Ami's mother Jaya is the greatest inspiration in her life. Jaya commutes between Mumbai and London where her husband Tusshar Trivedi works as a drama director at the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. When she's in Mumbai, she frequently visits her daughter on the sets with homemade food and also helps her to select the right kind of work.
AMI:
Mom is the backbone of our family and takes care of all the housework. Had it not been for Mama, I wouldn't have been able to work in television. My mother always complains about how naughty I was when I was a child but she's the sweetest person I have come across. As my father was away in the UK, she was the person who was around all the time when I was growing up. She has been the greatest pillar of strength in both my professional and personal life.
I was not a spoilt child but my brother Karan is. I remember when I said that I wanted to become an actor, my father was against it. But my mother stood beside me and supported my decision. In fact, when I was in school, I never thought that I would grow up to be a television actress. I was very shy in school but used to do very well in studies. My parents never complained about my studies, as I would always come first.
Since I shoot the whole day, it's not convenient for me to stay at my parent's place which is located at Marine Lines. Instead, I stay at my uncle's place in Andheri, which is near the studio. Therefore, the one thing that I miss is my ghar ka khana made by my mother. But she makes up for it by bringing homemade food for me on the sets sometimes.
The one quality which I really like in my mother is that she is very honest and knows how to handle situations. She never imposes her views on me but explains the pros and cons of every situation. She takes care of each and every aspect of my life and pampers me a lot.
JAYA:
Ami was not bratty in school but yes, she was naughty. It was my son Karan who's one-and-a-half years younger than Ami, who used to give me all the trouble. We always had high expectations from Ami as she used to come first in her exams. By contrast, Karan was not good at studies and used to fail in his exams. But his best friend was Ami and she used to come to his aid whenever his father scolded him. I remember that when the results came out, my husband used to ask Ami what she wanted. And every time she used to request him not to scold Karan if his results were not up to the mark.
What I like about Ami is that even after achieving fame, she still remains very down-to-earth and simple. Once there was an accident on the road where an old woman was injured. At that time, she was passing by and stopped her car to help the old lady. She took her to the nearby hospital and immediately called me from there. I think this shows that she has a soft heart and is basically a good human being. I always tell her to be honest in her dealings with people. Ami gets emotionally upset if people don't praise her work. She shares every little secret with me and keeps calling me throughout the day.
As a child, she was very shy and was exactly the opposite of my son Karan. But what I can't stand is her choice of clothes. Though she hardly gets time to shop for clothes, if she happens to go on her own, she'll inevitably pick up the wrong stuff. Also she's a bit superstitious and if somebody tells her that a particular outfit doesn't suit her, she'll never wear that dress again.
Both my children love to surprise me on my birthday or when I come back from the UK. They stock the fridge with lots of vegetables and fruits so that I don't have to bother about going grocery shopping when I return home. Sometimes I also drop into Ami's sets with homemade food as she loves dhoklas. I always worry about her food as nowadays she's staying at her uncle's place. Ami also makes it a point to call up when she reaches her uncle's home at night. I go to sleep only after getting her call because I always worry about her erratic timings.
Though I might not show it, I am proud of my daughter. Her role of Miss Know-All in Kituu Sab Janti Haisuits her perfectly, as in real life too Ami has solutions for everything. And I don't really have any problems about being referred to as Ami Trivedi's mother. It just so happens that nowadays I have to take advice from her about day-to-day things.

I LOVE GORGING ON THE STREET FOOD IN AHMEDABAD! - Ami Trivedi
Ami Trivedi aka Kittu in the telly world is back with a comic role this time. Comedy is one genre that all actors are experimenting with, and Ami is no exception to that. With a dazzling smile and twinkling eyes, Ami exuded some great confidence when she was in the city to promote her new show Papad Pol.
I have been to Ahmedabad several times for stage shows. My cousins live here, so I generally freak out with them and live like a typical Amdavadi here. I have roamed around the streets here on two wheelers on C G road and Law Garden roads. I just love gorging on the street food here. I regularly buy chaniya cholis when I come here.
For her new role, Ami will be wearing a Gujarati sari and having a long choti. I am a little scared as the character I am playing of Kokila Parikh, is not in the original story a chirpy, filmy and energetic girl. Her only aim is to keep her family happy. Comedy is not my forte but I enjoy doing it. It feels good when people see me, laugh at me and remember me. My mother-in-law loves me in this new role married and in a sari. She doesnt like me in negative characters. My husband Neeraj (Niraj) Sanghai loves me in the new show, he thinks I am looking hot in the posters. Generally he never compliments me.
I have a theatre background its almost five to six years since I am performing on stage. My dad Tushar Trivedi is a well known theatre actor and my brother Karan Trivedi is also a theatre actor. I have done several plays (15) and on small screen, I want to experiment with different genres. I dont plan my future so I will do any work that comes my way. In the past, Ami was seen in TV shows like Instant Kichdi, Kittu Sab Janti Hai, Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, Kumkum-Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Rakhi - Ek Atoot Rishte Ki Dor and Zaara - Pyaar Ki Saugat.
I have recently been married but my career life hasnt changed much. My husband always allows me to do what I want to do. He keeps telling me, I want you to work till you are 50 years otherwise one day dont tell me that you were just a housewife and you couldnt do anything. I dont have to make too many efforts to manage home and work, as we both are working. Whenever we get the time we make the best out of it. I dated him for four years and we still live like a girlfriend and boyfriend.

Why Doesn't Ami Trivedi Look into the Mirror?
Why Doesn't Ami Trivedi Look into the Mirror?
Katyayani Purohit may be a tongue twister but it has twisted Sahara One’s TRPs in its favour. Let’s cut short Katyayani and how about making it Kituu – now that makes sense! It also made sense to Ami Trivedi who accepted the role of Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai currently engaging viewers on Sahara One - the girl in the news, on the hoardings across the city and the girl who has no time to look into the mirror.
For Ami, Kituu was a blessing in disguise. It became an escape route for her – escape from the drudgery and the boring role she would have had to play if her dad, who was dead against her acting, had his way.
“Thank God Kituu came along otherwise my dad would’ve been looking for boys for me… and I would’ve been married. He is the jaldi shaadi karlo types. Kituu saved me. Of course in the show it’s the other way round. My mum wants me to get married.”
Ami was studying to be a doctor, but as luck would have it, she ended up acting. Ami says, “Acting always interested me so I got into it. I have been a child artiste and I’ve also done theatre.”
Kituu is her first role as a lead and “it’s been a wonderful experience although doing a daily is very hectic.”
Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai is about a middle-class but carefree girl Kituu who is struggling to make her mark as a journalist and who eventually becomes the well-known face across the nation as a determined and a hard-core journalist. “Katyayani Purohit is an intelligent smart girl. As the story moves forward she becomes more subtle in her behaviour. It’s a lot of fun to play a journalist although right now I’m playing the part of a trainee,” she coos.
“Everyone calls me Kituu. The number of hoardings and posters I’ve seen of myself it’s really a head rush. I don’t look at myself in the mirror so often.”
A true Mumbaiya her parents remote-control her life from London In her spare time she loves to read Archie’s comic and is currently hooked onto Harry Potter. She also has some bad habits - like talking on her cell while driving. Wonder if she’s heard of something called the hands free!
“I don’t have hands free because the moment any electronic equipment comes into my hands it stops working for some reason. The whole day I’m busy shooting, so whenever I have to catch up with friends or do some interviews it’s while I’m driving. Otherwise I just don’t have the time,” complains Ami.
But she is glad that she is doing a serial that is fresh in its concept and is unlike the saas bahu bores. “I think people are now bored of saas bahu types. Jassi... worked quite well. The audience want to see something different. I think anything different now will work. Everyone is telling me not to change the storyline and keep it the way it is. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will be this way.”
Hope you can influence the system! If you do Ami, we guarantee that you’ll have lesser time to look into the mirror. WHY? Because by then the number of hoardings would have increased three-fold…!
